Who Can Contribute?

Software developers and IT technicians, professionals, experts or simply enthusiasts of computer science and programming but also those who do not have a high level of technical skills can contribute to the growth of the project.

How to Contribute?

You can work directly on the code or participate in the roadmap discussions; you can submit a detailed bug report or answer questions and requests; you can create specific documentation or share new ideas; you can send feedback or just participate with translations.

Why Contribute to the Development of Open Hospital?

For Education or Passion

Learning web development in java or sharing your knowledge and skills are crucial for the dissemination of the project.

For the Community

Is possible to use a tutoring program to quickly get involved in the project, or share innovative ideas and improvements, ask questions, or fix other members’ issues.

For Ethical Reasons

You can contribute to improve standards management of hospital facilities in poor rural areas.

To Test Your Skills

Regardless of what your contribution is, it is important and it may be a good opportunity to learn new things or test your skills.

Committer

Who is the Committer?

The one who directly accesses the code repository.

What is The Role of The Committer?

The role of the Committer is to review and eventually approve Contributors proposals.

How to Become a Committer?

The number is limited and not necessarily tied to skills and experience: it is mainly based on a history of positive contributions.

Tutoring

What is Tutoring?

It consists in helping volunteers becoming a contributor for the Open Hospital project. The tutor is not “responsible” for contributors work but plays the role of supporter.

How to Become a Tutor?

There are no particular constraints. However, it is necessary to prove a good skill level and gain experience as contributor.

Contributor

Here’s how to become a contributor in 4 simple steps.

01. Download the Software

The first step to become a contributor is to download the free software Open Hospital.

02. Try It Out

You can choose the demo mode, where you select a role and explore features and functionality levels, or user mode, where you are a member of the community.

03. Identify an Issue

You are ready to identify issues and see if they have already been reported. If the bug has not yet been identified, you can create the issue.

04. Create a Fix

At this stage, it is essential to develop a FIX for the issue by creating a clone of the official repository, implementing the correction and submitting a “pull request” to the COMMITTERS.
